Eligibility Guidelines
Children are eligible for Caring for Children if they meet the following requirements:
- Be an unmarried child whose guardians have an annual income of between 141 percent and 180 percent of the Federal Poverty Level
- Be without comprehensive medical coverage through Medicaid, Healthy Steps or a private insurance carrier
- Birth up to age 19
- Be a resident of the state of North Dakota
- Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
- Be within household income guidelines of the North Dakota Caring Foundation, Inc.
Please note that individuals who have voluntarily canceled medical insurance are not eligible to participate in Caring for Children for six months after the date the coverage was canceled.
